TASKS
Task 2 - Typographic & Communication (Text Formatting & Expression)
After we've completed task 1, Mr Vinod assigned us a task to choose a headline out of the three given editorial text options on the Typography Facebook Page and create a 2-page editorial spread. I chose headline number 2 which is Follow The Code.
No images are allowed, however, some minor graphical elements such as lines, and shades might be allowed. For this task, Adobe Indesign will be used to typographically compose and express the text with a given size (200 x 200 per page)
First and foremost, I did some research on existing layout inspirations from google. From there I get some ideas on how to go about designing my pieces. Once I have gained some ideas, I started on my rough sketches.

These are my finished sketches and I went for more of a minimalist design with just shapes and lines. I personally liked sketch layout 5 the most because of its simplicity and design. What I did was basically connect the letter E from "THE" and "CODE" with lines and made it look like it's making some sort of code, In this case, I took inspiration from morse code and implemented it on my design.
Digitalized Sketches
After receiving feedback from Mr Vinod, I applied the feedback given to improve my sketches and chose digitalized sketch 1 for my final submission. This is because the feedback given by Mr Vinod was mostly positive and he liked what I did with the lines that connect the letter E.

FEEDBACKS
Week 7
General Feedback:
Mr Vinod liked my digitalized sketch 1, he thinks it was a good idea. He personally likes the use of lines in the letter E in 'THE" and "CODE". Although the column might be a bit too tight, he suggested that i should try to go for 7mm instead. On the other hand, for the second digitalized sketch he thought that it was too simple and one of the paragraphs is formatted incorrectly.
REFLECTIONS
Experience:
With the experience, I gained from watching Mr Vinod's youtube tutorials and from task 1. I find it easier to cope and complete task 2. Due to having learned to use Indesign and formatting text, I could navigate through task 2 quite easily.
Observation:
Although sometimes trying to come up with a design can be really overwhelming. Thus, observing other classmates' work and feedback given by Mr Vinod helps me come up with different ideas and create my own piece.
Findings:
I came to find out that creating a design piece that suits your personal design taste is crucial. In my case, I went for more sort of like a simplistic and minimalist design consisting of shapes, colors, and typography.
